The theatre is famous for an actor named Bill Smart. Last week, a play was shown and Mr Smart played the part(扮演角色)of an army commander(司令).
A serious battle began and the commander stood on top of a hill(which was actually a table), leading his army in the fight against the enemy. While jumping on the table he fell off suddenly because of two bananas on which he stepped(踩).(Someone had left the bananas there by mistake.)
All the actors on the stage(舞台)were at a loss(不知所措)for what to do next. Mr Smart thought and said,“Oh I am wounded. You must stick out(坚持到底)without me.”All the people in the audience(在场观众)who had seen the play before broke out laughing, for Mr Smart had again turned out(原来是)to be a clever actor.

This is a story about the well-known millionaire(百万富翁),John D. Rockefeller(洛克菲勒), and was told by a friend of his. This friend said that though Rockefeller gave away(派送)millions, Rockefeller was very mean(吝啬的)about small sums(数额)of money. One day he went to stay at a hotel in New York and asked for the cheapest room they had. Rockefeller said,“What is the price of the room?”The manager told him about the price.
“Is that the lowest priced room you have? I am staying here by myself and only need a small room.”
The manager said,“That room is the smallest and cheapest we have,”and added,“But why do you choose a poor room like that? When your son stays here he always has our most expensive room; yours is our cheapest.”
      “Yes,”said Rockefeller,“but his father is a wealthy(富裕的)man; mine isn’t.”
