mind [词义用法] 1. vt. 介意；反对 I don’t mind cold weather.我并不在乎冷天气。 Would you mind opening the window? 你能为我把那窗子打开吗?
2. vi. 介意；反对
Do you mind if I leave? 我可以离开吗?
I’ll ask Mrs Smith to help you. I’m sure she won’t mind. 我会叫史密斯夫人帮你，我肯定她会同意。
[友情提醒] mind作动词，主要用于疑问句、否定句、条件句中。
3. n. (1)心(神)；内心；头脑
An idea flashed across his mind. 他脑子里闪过一个念头。
(2)[ U ]智力; 记忆
I’ll keep your advice in mind. 我将记住你的忠告。
(3)[C ]思想；意见

[词组搭配]

注：be of one mind=be of the same mind=be of a mind

[常用句型]
1. never mind(about)没关系；不必顾虑
“I’m sorry to forget your newspapers. ”“Never mind. I’ll go and get it later.”“真对不起，我忘记给你带报纸了。”“没关系，过一会我自己去取。”
Never mind about that. 不要顾虑那件事情。
[友情提醒]Never mind. 用于：(1)当别人向你致歉时；(2)请他人放心时；(3)当别人要帮忙或为你做某事时。
2. Would／Do you mind (one’s)doing…? 你介意……?
Would you mind my smoking here? 我可以在这儿抽烟吗?
Would you mind mailing this letter? 你介意帮我寄封信吗?

[友情提醒] 对Would／Do you mind…?表示“不介意”的回答通常是：
No, I don’t.／Not at all.／Certainly not.／Of course not. 如果果真介意，习惯上用I’m sorry, but…较为婉转。

seem
[词义用法]
1. seem用作系动词表示“看来”、“似乎”时，其后可跟：
（1）形容词：He seems terribly ill.
注：表语形容词(如afraid, asleep, awake等)不能直接跟在seem之后，必须跟在 seem to be 之后。注意下面正误句：
正：They seem to be asleep.
误：They seem asleep.
（2） 分词形容词：But he seemed rather tired last night.
（3） 名词：That seems quite a good idea.
（4） 不定式： I seem to remember that the last time we met I did most of the talking.
They seem to be abroad.
（5） 介词短语：They seemed like twins.
（6） 副词：They seem further away now.
（7） that引导的从句(用于带先行词it的结构中)：
It seems that it’s more difficult for women to get to the top of a company.
It seems that she told a lie in order to get a job with our company.
注：此结构可用seem后接不定式来改写。如：
It seems that he is rich.
He seems to be rich.
（8）as if或 as though引导的从句：
Does it seem as if the lady knows little about wine?
He makes it seem as if this is one of the most delicious meals that he has ever enjoyed.
[拓展延伸]seem to 的否定式有两种：don’t seem to与seem not to。后者是正式用法，但不如前者普遍。如：
She seems not to like it.
She doesn’t seem to like it.
3. seem后接that引导的从句时，允许否定转移到主句中。如：
It doesn’t seem that we can get our money back.
It seems that we can’t get our money back.
[同义比较] seem, appear和look
seem 是“似乎”、“好像”之意，表示对某事物作出判断时虽有一定的根据，但仍然有所怀疑。
look是“貌似”之意，指凭视觉作出的判断，但含有较多真实性的意味。
appear与look一样，也是凭视觉印象而产生的一种看法，不同的是，这种看法可能是与实际不相符合的。
