　　Its very name conjures images of grandeur and might. London is the biggest city in Europe and one of its most diverse. Proudly traditional and brazenly modern at the same time, it is home to the British government, the Royal family and a dizzying array of races and cultures. You could easily spend a week doing nothing else but sightseeing in London but with designer boutiques and street stall markets London is also a shopper"s paradise.

　　The British Museum - The oldest and most austere museum in the world. 6 million visitors pass through every year to see everything from Assyrian Treasures to Egyptian mummies.
　　Buckingham Palace - Certain parts of the Royal Family"s residence are open to the public. The changing of the guard is a spectacle to behold.
　　Houses of Parliament - The magnificent buildings of the Houses of Parliament reflect its past role as power centre of a global empire. Look at the time on the familiar face of Big Ben.
　　Westminster Abbey - Many will be familiar with the incredible interior of this church from the televised funeral of Princess Diana. It is also the place where almost all England"s monarchs have been crowned since 1066.

　　Bond Street - Designer boutiques aplenty. Armani, Versace, Gucci to name but a few.
　　Oxford Street - It stretches 2 miles and has over 300 shops, most of which are competitively priced retail stores. The HMV shop is the oldest music shop in the world.
　　Harrods - London"s most famous department store is not a cheap place to shop but is such a part of the city"s history that it has to be seen. Even if it is just for a look!

　　In such a culturally diverse city as London it is possible to eat cuisines from all over the world. For a more traditional meal order a round of fish and chips from one of the city"s countless venues. It will be served wrapped in paper and laced with salt and vinegar and you should wash it down with a pint of beer; just to be traditional of course.

For those who are not in a huge hurry, the red double-decker buses are a great way to see the city. There are also a wide range of walking tours available in the city centre.

You can buy them in any supermarket.
