Danny can also be seen in the movie"The Tai- lor of Panama" (2000), a spy thriller4 that released in the spring of 2001. But Danny zoomed5 into the inter- national spotlight6 when he won the much-coveted7 role of Harry Potter in the highly anticipated8 film adaptation of the hugely successful "Harry Potter" book series.Danny had quite a field of competition for the Harry Potter role. According to the BBC, 16,000 boys auditioned9 for the role. Among those rumored10 to be in that field were Haley Joel Osment and Frankie Muniz. But the movie makers wanted a British boy to play the part of Harry, and director Chris Columbus wanted Danny for the role after seeing him in "David Copperfield" .According to BBC News, "The youngster survived five auditions and had no trouble making friends on the set."
