　　A student at on school taunted me,“I don’t trust anyone over 30,”He said.“What do you think of that?”
　　I replied that I didn’t trust anyone under 30――they lacked experience, were self-righteous and ignorant of the rhythms of history.Furthermore, I trust no one over 30, obsessed as they were with material things.

　　Many times the story has been told of the famous beauty who wrote to George Bernard Shaw(乔治•萧伯纳) and said that, as she possessed the most perfect figure and beauty of features of any living woman, and as he, by common consent, possessed one of the greatest brains among literary men ,would he consider being a party of giving the world a child who should enjoy her beauty and Shaw’s brains.

　　Thomas Edison was deaf but only a few of his friends were aware that in his case deafness was more psychological than physical. Once a specialist in diseases of the ear called upon Mr Edison and unfolded a plan of treatment which he was sure would restore his hearing.To the proposition that he submit to treatment, however, Mr Edison opposed an emphatic negative.
　　“What I am afraid of,”said he,“is that you would be successful.Just think what a lot of stuff I’d have to listen to that I don’t want to hear! To be a little deaf and be the only one who knows just how deaf you are has its advantages.I prefer to let well enough alone”
