Finally, Doha gets to host the 2006 Asian Games from the 1st to 15th of December. It is the second country in West Asia to hold this event since the Iran Asian Games in 1974.       Qatar began work on the Asian Games Village, also known as the Asiad Village, in 2003. This village has been built to accommodate[提供食宿] athletes and their support staff. A total of 14 multi-purpose stadiums have been refurbished[翻新] in accordance with the requirements of such a huge-scale event.
