　　翻译：叶林 　　Over the Hedge 　　当你醒来的时候，突然发现一堵巨墙赫然耸立在面前，你会怎么做？《篱笆墙外》里的一群动物就遇到了这个问题。当他们从冬眠中醒来，却发现原来的森林被人类侵占了。正当他们为食物发愁的时候，浣熊RJ出现了。他鼓动这些动物冲出篱笆，到人类的住所夺取食物！动物们很快就被RJ说服，纷纷潜入人类世界偷取食物。但他们不知道，RJ其实欠下了一头饿熊的债，他必须在一周内还清，否则就要被当作食物吃掉！
　　
　　Verne: Half the forest is gone. Oh, the oak[橡树] trees and the berry bushes, they’re just...they’re just gone.
　　Stella: What’ll we do for food?
　　Heather: How are we gonna live?
　　Verne: I don’t know. But here’s what I do know. We will be fine as long as no one goes over “steve注1again.
　　RJ: It’s called the hedge, and it is not to be feared, my amphibious[两栖的] friend. It is the gateway to the good life.
　　Verne: Er, I’m a reptile[爬行动物], actually. But, you know, it’s a common mistake. And you are?
　　RJ: Oh, where are my manners. I’m RJ. Now please don’t think I’m prying[刺探], but I couldn’t help overhearing[无意中听到], and I think I can shed[散发] a little light on what this whole hedge situation is about. You see, what was once mere wilderness is now 54 acres of man-made, manicured[修剪], air-conditioned paradise. Except for that little-bitty speck[斑点]. You are here. No, no, that’s a good thing. You’re hibernators[冬眠动物], right? You gather up a bunch of food, store it away for the winter? Let me ask you, how long’s it take? You know, to fill the log[原木]?
　　Heather: 274 days.
　　RJ: Oh. Ever done it in a week?
　　Verne: That’s impossible.
　　RJ: Not if we work together. You see, you’re got the food gathering skills. I’re got the know-how, and they have the food!
　　Heather: How much food?
　　RJ: Loads of food. Heaps[大量] of food. Food out the wazoo注2!
　　Verne: Well, you know, whatever kind of food comes out of a wazoo, I……I really don’t think we’re interested in eating.
　　Lou: I don’t know. The guy’s making a lot of sense to me. I think we should listen.
　　Penny: Yeah, I’m OK with wazoo food there.
　　Verne: No, you’re not. The tail is tingling[感到轻微刺痛].
　　RJ: The what is what?
　　Verne: When something doesn’t feel right, my tail tingles. And let me tell you something, everything you’re said so far is driving my tail crazy.
　　RJ: Listen. Verne, right? This isn’t something you need to be afraid of.
　　Verne: Well, I am. Thanks for stopping by. We’re not interested.
　　RJ: Not interested in the most delicious food you’re ever tasted?
　　Verne: No!
　　RJ: Come on.
　　Verne: Not interested!
　　RJ: OK. I get it. I understand. This is something that you’re just not open to. (opens a pack of chips)
　　All: Whoa!
　　Hammy: What is that?!
　　RJ: That, my friend, is a magical combination[结合] of corn flour, dehydrated[使脱水] cheese solids, a.k.a.[also known as的缩写], the chip. Nacho[烤干酪辣味玉米片] cheese flavor.
　　Stella: Yeah! Verne, those were good!
　　RJ: It’s all good! And we’re going over there. Tonight! Yeah!
　　
　　弗尔：半个森林都不见了。噢，橡树和黑莓灌木丛，它们就这样……就这样消失了。

　　Ozzie & Lou: What?
　　Ozzie: Verne, what were you thinking? The log was full!
　　Verne: Full of junk.
　　Lou: So, what are you saying there? That the food we gather our way isn’t as good as the food we gather your way?
　　Verne: Your way? You mean his way. Can’t you see RJ is just using you?
　　Penny: Verne! Shame on you. RJ wouldn’t do that.
　　Verne: You have got to trust me on this. Don’t you understand there’s something wrong with this guy? My tail tingles every time I get near him!
　　Stella: Oh, so we’re supposed to go hungry because your butt’s vibrating[使摇摆]? I’m starting to think that tingle of yours is just you being jealous.
　　Verne: Jealous? Of him?
　　Lou: Yeah! He’s embracing the future there, and you’re just holding us back!
　　Verne: Oh, I hold you back, all right, from extinction. (to RJ) You see what you"re done here? If they listened to half the stuff[东西] you’re telling them, they"ll be dead within a week. You are only interested in taking advantage of[利用] them because they’re too stupid and naive[天真的] to know any better.
　　Hammy: I’m not stupid.
　　Verne: OK, I didn’t mean...I meant ignorant[无知的]�o the ways over...over...over there. Come on, you guys. You know I didn’t mean it like that. (The other animals walk away from him.) Don’t...don’t do this.
　　
　　RJ：不！不！食物！全没了！
　　斯特拉：什么？
　　希瑟：没了？
　　斯特拉：怎么会没了？
　　RJ：问他！
　　彭妮：弗尔？
　　弗尔：我将它们物归原主了。

　　哈米：我不蠢。

　　原本心怀诡计的RJ看见大伙儿都对自己这么好，心里开始有些不忍。另一边厢，弗尔觉得自己也有不对的地方。
　　Verne: Shouldn’t have taken all that food.
　　RJ: What?
　　Verne: I shouldn’t have taken all that food. I was just trying to return things to the way they were. That’s all. I was just being cautious[谨慎的]. ‘Cause that’s what I am. I’m naturally tentative[踌躇的]. There’s even places in my shell I haven’t been. You, on the other hand, you’re like...cool, and crazy and fearless. I think they’re right. I think I’m just jealous.
　　RJ: (sighs) Verne, believe me, you should not be jealous of me. You, you got a good thing here. You’re just trying to do what’s best for your family.
　　Verne: And I think you’re what’s best for them now.
　　RJ: What about your tail?
　　Verne: My head says listen to my tail. My tail says just listen to my head, and I just...end up with an upset stomach. That’s why you need to be in charge now.
　　
　　
　　弗尔：不该把所有食物拿走。
　　RJ：什么？

　　在新一轮的食物偷窃行动中，大家都没能逃过人类布置的陷阱，除了RJ以外的动物都被捉了起来，食物则被RJ拿去还债。就在RJ把食物交给饿熊的时候，他终于良心发现，并最终使出浑身解数，解救了大家。
　　
　　Verne: You know, RJ, um, just for the record[供记录在案], if you had told us that all that food you were trying to get was to pay back an angry bear, we would’ve given it to you.
　　RJ: Really?
　　Verne: Yeah, that’s what families do. They look out for each other.
　　RJ: I’ve never really had anything like that.
　　Verne: I know. But believe me, this...this is the gateway to the good life.
　　RJ: Really wish you would’ve told me that sooner.
　　Verne: Yeah. Well, that’s bad communication, also something families do. So, what do you say? You wanna be a part of it? (RJ gives Hammy a hug.) Welcome to the family!
　　Heather: Group hug!
　　
　　弗尔：你知道，RJ，呃，必须声明，要是你之前告诉我们，你要把所有到手的食物都还给那只愤怒的熊的话，我们会给你的。
　　RJ：真的？
